Syrah
D. H. Lescombes 2008 Syrah (New Mexico)
The nose of this aromatic, Southwest red offers up a bouquet of cherry and tobacco notes. The palate is dry, slightly hot with moderate tannins in delivering a long, savory finish. The wine is still young and tight, with plenty of structure to provide for terrific bottle aging. Flavors of cassis, spice herbs and umami create a very attractive flavor profile. Decant for an hour before drinking or hold for additional bottle aging.

Glen Fiona Syrah Walla Walla 2000 (Washington)
With some age now bolstering it, this readily available, chewy, Syrah is presenting incredibly well. Aromas of berries, herbs and toasted oak are featured. This well structured Syrah promotes the appropriate balance of acid and sugar, revealing deep flavors of berry, currant, game and mineral. Great finish! This wine is ready to drink now. Yummy!

Seven Hills Syrah Walla Walla 2008
This has the best from both the old world and the new world…great up front fruit from the new world, yet has structure and is very dry, like the old world's version of a Northern Rhone. Excellent black raspberry notes, kirsch, lavendar and smoked meat, along with huge mouth-filling tannins make this Syrah from Walla Walla not to be missed! This is drinking great now, with a decanter, or cellar for 10 more years!

StoneCap Syrah 2009
Deep and rich Washington state Syrah at a stupid price! Rich blueberry and graham notes, finishing spicy. I was impressed with this because it was such a great price for what you got, and it went well with my fried chicken!
